Lithuanian Womens Double Scull of Donata Vistartaite and Milda Valciukaite Win at the World Rowing Championships

The Lithuanian double of Donata Vistartaite and Milda Valciukaite took a canvas lead from the start of the Women's Double Scull, against a strong New Zealand Double of Fiona Bourke and Zoe Stevenson, Great Britain's Victoria Mayer-Laker/ Frances Houghton and Belarus double Ekaterina Kurston and Yuliya Bichyk. The GB crew settled well and drew level with the Lithuanians. In the second 500 New Zealand push though both doubles to take a slight lead. The race remains tight though 1000m, then in the 3rd 500 New Zealand and Lithuania's pace proves too much for GB, who can no longer remain in touch.

With 250m to go the New Zealand double start to pull out a 1/2 length lead and look strong for the gold medal. With just 50 meters to go it looks inevitable for a Kiwi win, but just on the line the Donata and Valciukaite inch their bow in front for the Gold medal

Rowing through the Polish double with 2012 Olympic Bronze Medalist Magdalena Fularczyk in the boat. The Lithuanians showed real class as they rowed through the Polish Double with 900 metres to go and went on to win with over a length clear water
